Neighborhood Spotlight: Brock Point

Brock Point is a newer neighborhood in Hoover off of Hwy-280 and County Rd. 41. The neighborhood is a 30-minute commute from downtown Birmingham and 30-minutes from the center of Hoover. Brock Point is still developing and in October 2017 the Hoover planning commissioned approved the next phase of the neighborhood.

Is It a Good Time to Move Into that Dream Home?


In a recent CoreLogic study of the housing market between 2012 and 2017, they wanted to investigate the state of the market since the end of the recession. 

Chief Economist, Frank Nothaft, said “Greater demand and lower supply -  as well as booming job market -  have given some of the hardest-hit housing markets a boost in prices. Yet, many are still not back to pre-crash levels.”

Neighborhood Spotlight: Lake Crest

Lake Crest is a large neighborhood on the east side of Hoover that stretches from highway 150 off I-459 to Preserve Pkwy. near Moss Rock Park. The neighborhood has homes that were built between 1978 and 2010s, most built in the early 2000s. The neighborhood is only a 20-minute commute to downtown Birmingham and less than a 12-minute drive to the heart of the city of Hoover. Lake Crest is also has a short 15-minute commute to Lakeshore Dr. in Homewood. These culs-de-sac streets create small pockets of communities throughout the neighborhood.  If you are looking for private streets for your kids to play, this neighborhood might be for you.

There are many spaces in a house that will draw the attention of a buyer, one of these that is often ignored in preparation of selling a home is your bathrooms. Bathrooms usually have minimal furniture, so you may not think about it in terms of staging, but bathrooms are a high priority on a buyer’s list.

As a full time, experienced real estate agent, I hear buyers talk about their likes and dislikes. I have seen bathrooms that draw buyers in and bathrooms that repel. The bathroom is the space where we begin and end our day so improvements here is well worth your money and time whether you are selling or staying put.

The bathroom pictured above is from a home in Riverchase, Hoover, AL. I helped my clients, Aaron and Amanda, purchase and sell this home on relocations to and from Birmingham. When Amanda saw this bath, it caused spontaneous jumping for joy…literally. Before I knew it, I was swept up in the joy and I was jumping.
